A wide flange beam connects to a supporting wide flange girder web using a three-quarter-inch thick plate welded to the girder and bolted to the supported beam web. The supported beam features a coped top flange with a maximum cope length per plan and a quarter-inch fillet weld connecting the shear plate to the supporting element. The connection utilizes a three-inch typical bolt spacing with one-and-a-half-inch edge distances from the centerlines. Bolt diameters and exact plate dimensions are referenced to the structural schedule.
