Steel beam splice connections occur at roof ridge and valley locations using complete joint penetration welds at the top and bottom flanges. Grade 50 side plates match the web thickness and are welded all around with fillet welds sized one-sixteenth inch less than the plate thickness. Optional field splices incorporate the maximum number of seven-eighths inch A325 bolts through the side plates with continuous field welds around the perimeter.
