The assembly features a steel joist girder supported by a hollow structural section column, utilizing a three-quarter-inch thick cap plate to transition the load. A seven-eighths-inch by five-and-a-half-inch by three-foot grade 50 knife plate is recessed into the top of the girder to facilitate a welded connection. The joist girder is secured with five-sixteenth-inch typical fillet welds, while the knife plate connection uses one-quarter-inch typical fillet welds. Stabilizer plates measuring one-half-inch by six inches by eight inches are provided at the column, with a specific note to leave the joist girder bottom chord unwelded to the stabilizer plate. A continuous six-inch wood nailer is installed above the girder to support the roof sheathing per plan.
