A concrete slab temporary opening is detailed with a one-and-a-half-inch keyed joint at the face and top and bottom reinforcing bars spaced across the section. Two number four bars flank the joint, with number six bars at two feet six inches long spaced at twelve inches on center extending into the slab edge. Number five bars at nine inches on center run each way top and bottom, complemented by one continuous number five bar at the inserts and two number six top and bottom bars each way. Inserts are positioned to match dowel spacing per plan. The opening is symmetrical about its centerline and is filled with concrete matching the slab strength after the brace is removed through the opening, omitting the key at post-tensioning stressing ends where applicable.
