This structural plan detail shows framing around an opening in a metal deck unit. Hollow structural section members measuring HSS 1-1/2x3x1/8 are placed on top of the deck units parallel to the framing below, maintaining a maximum twenty-four-inch spacing spanning three flutes. Diagonal reinforcing bars intersect the corners of the opening and are welded adjacent to each cut web with a one-eighth-inch fillet weld and one-half-inch weld size. Additional fillet welds measuring one-eighth-inch by one inch are placed at the center of each upper flute beyond the opening. Beams located below provide primary structural support for the deck assembly.
