An HSS 4x4x1/4 hollow structural section post extends vertically through a metal deck and connects to a structural steel beam below. A 1/4-inch cap plate seals the top of the post at elevation 472'-0". Two 1/4-inch plates measuring 2x1'-0" are welded to each side of the beam web with 3/16-inch fillet welds to support the post assembly. A 5/16-inch weld secures the metal deck to the supporting girder, referenced from detail 1/S6.04. Additional beam framing and connection details are referenced from detail 2/S6.04.
