A non-frame steel column is welded to a base plate with a fillet weld sized per AWS minimums or five-sixteenths inches typical, supported by anchor bolts detailed in the structural schedule with double nuts and hardened washers. The base plate features a four-inch grout hole matching the anchor bolt hole size and rests over three inches minimum of non-shrink grout on a concrete foundation mat. The anchor bolts extend down into the mat foundation and terminate with half-inch by four-inch square plate washers typical at the bottom of the mat.
