This structural detail shows a steel column anchored to a new concrete footing poured beneath an existing slab on grade. The assembly includes a steel column sized per schedule bearing on a base plate atop a poured concrete footing, which is placed in a neat excavation with a minimum four and three-quarter inch clearance and twelve-inch overcut. Number four rebar dowels at twelve inches on center are embedded in epoxy-filled holes to tie the existing slab on grade to the new slab installation. Top reinforcement consists of number four bars at sixteen inches on center each way, with additional reinforcement per schedule. The footing dimensions and rebar sizes vary as specified in the structural schedule, maintaining a typical three-inch clear cover.
