A concrete masonry unit wall runs parallel to a steel roof deck framing system. Channel sections such as C5x6.7 or C5x9 attach to each side of the masonry wall with fillet welds and span up to 8'-0" maximum. A reinforced bond beam tops the masonry wall, leaving a typical top gap beneath the roof joist or wide-flange beam filled with a fire-rated compressible filler. The masonry wall extends at least one course minimum above the channels.
