A concrete topping over a metal deck bears on a wide-flange steel girder with the low flute of the deck centered over the girder centerline. Three-quarter-inch diameter welded headed studs pass through the metal deck into the top flange of the girder. Reinforcing steel is placed at three-quarters of an inch clear from the top of the concrete slab. Deck layout requires coordination to center the low flute over the parallel girder, splitting the deck as required to place the studs.
