Cold-formed steel ceiling joists are stabilized using a 1 1/2-inch by 33-mil strap or 54-mil cold-rolled channel running perpendicular across the top flanges. Track blocking matching the joists is placed at 96 inches on center and at each end of strap runs. Connections are detailed with two number 10 screws at each flange, one number 10 screw at each stud, and four number 10 screws per block. A framed ceiling system sits below with a finish surface applied to one side only.
