An HSS post centers on a wide flange beam and fastens via a 1 1/2 inch by 8 inch base plate welded with a 1/2 inch fillet weld. Four 7/8 inch diameter high-strength bolts secure the base plate on standard wide flange beam gauge. Full-depth 1/2 inch stiffener plates are welded to each side of the beam web using 1/4 inch fillet welds on 3 sides typically. Additional horizontal HSS framing members connect between posts with welded plate connections, and stud framing is installed between vertical HSS posts per architectural details.
