Standard reinforcement requirements around wall openings in concrete masonry unit construction comprise two number four bars for openings less than five feet, two number five bars for openings from five feet one inch to seven feet, and two number six bars for openings from seven feet one inch to ten feet. Jamb bars extend the full height of the wall with standard ninety-degree hooks at the top and lap splices specified at vertical intervals. Where full extension is not possible, bars are extended as far as possible and terminated with standard hooks. Lintels and wall reinforcing are detailed with a single mat configuration.
