The steel beam connects to the column web using top and bottom structural angles measuring L4x4x1/4 and a five-eighths-inch thick plate. Two seven-eighths-inch diameter Grade A325 bolts fasten the angles to the column web. A stiffener plate is provided below the bottom angle and fitted to bear against the column web. Beam flanges are blocked as required to clear the column flanges. Five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds are specified at the angle and stiffener plate connections.
