A one-sided moment connection at the top of a wide-flange column frames into wide-flange beams. A cap plate is located at the column top with erection bolts as required, shear plates are bolted to the beam webs, and complete joint penetration welds are made with backup bars and run-off tabs removed. Headed studs are provided along the top flange of the wide-flange beam for composite action. Braces and gusset plates are omitted from the drawing for clarity and are sized per plan. Erection bolts are installed as required for temporary alignment before final welding.
