A concrete slab on metal deck is supported by a wide flange beam at a change in deck spans. A three-quarter-inch diameter welded head stud anchors the slab to the top flange of the wide flange beam. Transverse #4 reinforcing bars measuring four feet long are spaced at thirty-six inches on center, centered over the beam with three-quarters of an inch of clearance. The metal deck bears on the beam flange with minimum one-and-one-half-inch bearing clearances on each side.
