A horizontal construction joint occurs between a first and second concrete wall pour. The joint surface is roughened to a one-quarter inch minimum amplitude for shear transfer, featuring a continuous edge notch and form ties positioned within three inches maximum from the joint interface. A continuous two-by-four wood member is provided on the form face and removed before the second pour, with form ties tightened accordingly. Continuous reinforcing steel extends through the joint.
