Reinforcement detailing for grade beam elevation steps of eight inches and less utilizes a one-to-twelve transition slope with straight main bar development of D over two. Steps greater than eight inches incorporate a one-to-two sloping transition and a Class B lap splice with number six lap bars for each main bar. Stirrups are spaced at three inches in the transition region, with reinforcement sizes and types specified in the grade beam schedule. Vertical legs of lap bars must extend the longer of number six Class B splice length or main bar Class A development length. All splicing conditions reference the structural schedule using Class B laps unless noted otherwise.
