A gravity moment connection links structural steel beams using a combination of complete joint penetration welds and bolted shear plates. A shear plate matches the web thickness of the shallow beam and connects with five bolts per side as specified in the connection schedule. Flange plates match the thickness of the deep beam flange and are welded with complete joint penetration welds typically. Fillet welds of five-sixteenths inch size secure additional connection elements. Beam sizes are sized per plan.
