A roof subpurlin connects to a steel joist using a Simpson F-series Z-max galvanized roof hanger on typical sides, secured with one-quarter inch by two-inch lag screws or number fourteen by two-inch wood screws at twenty-four inches on center staggered for each angle of the top chord with pre-drilling as required. A three-times Douglas Fir wood nailer measuring two and one-half inches net sits atop the assembly and connects with four ten-penny nails. An angle joist brace provided by the manufacturer attaches at a one-to-one slope.
