An HSS guiderail support column bears against a concrete slab over a metal floor deck and structural steel beam. A half-inch by ten-inch by two-foot base plate secures the column with four three-quarter-inch diameter by three-inch heavy stud anchors, while a half-inch by one-foot bent plate with three five-eighths-inch diameter by thirty-inch deformed bar anchors at five inches on center centers on the rail location with cutouts as required. A five-sixteenths fillet weld connects the assembly at the steel beam bearing. A six-by-four by five-sixteenths angle measuring five inches long on each side connects to the structural steel beam using a three-quarter-inch through bolt in a two-inch vertical slotted hole with a double nut. A one-inch clearance is maintained between the slab edge and the structural element.
