An L8x8x1/2 structural steel ledger connects to a hollow structural section column using two three-quarter-inch A307 through bolts located within horizontal long slotted holes in the ledger. A half-inch by ten-inch by zero-foot-eight-inch plate is centered on the hollow structural section, with a thermal shim referenced from the architectural drawings placed between the components. Fillet welds of one-quarter-inch size are applied typically as indicated on the drawing. The center ledger splice assembly occurs directly on the hollow structural section column.
