Structural steel bottom flange bracing configurations for W18 wide flange beams relative to a metal deck. The parallel-to-deck condition uses a 3x3x1/4 angle brace connected to a quarter-inch plate with a quarter-inch fillet weld and anchored using two one-half-inch diameter Hilti KB-TZ expansion anchors with two-inch embedment. The perpendicular-to-deck condition utilizes a 3x3x1/4 angle brace connected with three-quarter-inch diameter high-strength bolts. Both configurations secure the bottom flange of the W18 beam back to the overhead structural slab.
