A wide-flange beam frames into a new hollow structural section column per plan. A pair of L4x4x3/8 structural angles are welded or bolted to both sides of the web to form the shear connection. A one-half-inch gap is maintained at the top and bottom of the connection, with a six-inch dimension spacing indicated.
