A bent structural steel beam connects to a horizontal beam at a change in direction defined per the structural plans. Half-inch stiffener plates are welded to both sides of the web and flange with quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides. Complete joint penetration welds are specified at the beam web and flange connection interface.
