A steel beam frames into a hollow structural section column using a one-half inch end plate with bolted connections. Stiffener plates are welded per detail two on sheet S1.2 at the top and bottom flange locations. The hollow structural section column below and above aligns with the beam edges and connects with full-depth partial-joint-penetration welds all around. A one-quarter inch fillet weld secures the connection to the one-half inch end plate. The top flange is shown cut back for clarity, and beam-to-beam connections are detailed per sheet S1.2.
