A plate girder frames into a column web with a one-inch gap maintained between the members. A shear plate connects to a horizontal plate, with corners clipped by three-quarters of an inch. A complete joint penetration weld secures the horizontal plate to the column flange, while the shear plate is welded to the horizontal plate. A vertical row of bolts fastens the plate girder web to the shear plate, with two-inch typical spacing and a four-inch minimum bolt spacing. A three-inch dimension marks the projection from the column face, and additional plate girder sizing is referenced in the schedule.
