Hollow structural section members connect via welded plate and angle configurations for both same-depth and different-depth framing conditions. The bent beam elevation features a 1/2-inch stiffener plate on both sides of the web and flange, welded with 1/4-inch fillet welds on three sides. For different-depth hollow structural sections, a 3/8-inch seat angle (such as L4x4x3/8 or L6x6x3/8 depending on member depth D) supports the framing beam below with a 1/4-inch fillet weld, maintaining up to a 1/2-inch maximum gap. For same-depth conditions, a 3/8-inch top plate and matching seat angles secure the connection with 1/4-inch fillet welds.
