Two types of interior slab on grade joints: a construction joint between a first and second pour, and a sawcut control joint. The construction joint features a T-divided-by-two continuous key formed with a Burke Key Kold or equal system or wood construction joint, bounded by nine-inch and six-inch dimensioned zones below a three-quarter-inch gap. Dowels matching the slab reinforcement span across the joint, accompanied by typical reinforcing located within the slab thickness T. The control joint includes a sawcut extending to a depth of T-divided-by-four from the top surface of the concrete slab above a vapor barrier. Sawing must occur as soon as the concrete surface is firm enough to prevent damage, but not later than twelve hours after pouring.
