An HSS6.000x0.375 hollow structural section column is anchored to a dowel laminated timber floor system using an A36 steel base plate measuring 1 inch by 12 inches by 1 foot 0 inches. The base plate is secured to the dowel laminated timber deck with eight three-quarter-inch by 6-inch grip lag bolts spaced at 4 and a half inches each way. The lag bolts are positioned at the middle of the dowel laminated timber dimensional lumber width. A five-sixteenths-inch fillet weld connects the HSS column to the base plate. The top of the concrete slab is referenced, and the assembly accommodates a maximum load of 5000 pounds in any direction within a 1-foot 6-inch maximum height.
