A wood beam bears against a steel beam and is supported below by a Simpson hanger with a quarter-inch fillet weld. A three-inch wide by quarter-inch thick steel plate is bolted to the wood beam with two three-quarter-inch diameter machine bolts, spaced at two inches, four inches, and six inches. Two rows of staggered blind nails secure the wood nailer above the steel beam flange.
