This assembly features a steel column penetrating a composite floor slab, surrounded by a concrete curb. The column is wrapped in closed-cell foam expansion joint material and sealed at the top surface. The concrete surface at the curb interface is roughened to a one-quarter inch amplitude. A bentonite waterstop is installed around the column perimeter and extended up the adjacent precast wall, maintaining a minimum of three inches of concrete cover. The curb is reinforced with number four vertical dowels and number four horizontal bars, with one and one-half inches of clear cover provided for the slab reinforcement.
