A wide flange beam frames into a hollow structural section column with a half-inch cap plate spanning the larger width of both members, welded with a quarter-inch fillet weld on three sides. Full-height stiffener plates or shear plates are provided on each side as required per plan, with a three-eighths inch minimum thickness. Two three-quarter-inch diameter A325-SC high-strength bolts connect the members, spaced at three and a quarter inches with edge distances of one and a half inches and two inches.
