A reinforcing bar runs parallel to a steel plate with a maximum angle of fifteen degrees and a typical throat thickness equal to two-tenths of the bar diameter. The weld length varies by bar size, ranging from one and one-quarter inches for a number three bar up to nine and three-quarter inches for a number eleven bar. Fillet welds secure the bar to the steel plate based on the specified dimensional schedule.
