A concrete topping over a metal deck bears on a wide flange steel beam with a one and a half inch minimum bearing clearance. Three-quarter-inch diameter welded head studs are spaced as shown on the plans along the beam centerline. The metal deck terminates with an optional end position relative to the beam flange. A minimum three-quarter-inch clearance is maintained from the top of the stud after welding to the top of the concrete slab.
