A wide flange steel beam connects to a wide flange steel column using bolted flange plates at the top and bottom. A vertical continuity plate or stiffener is aligned within the column web with horizontal stiffener plates below the connection zone. The flange plates are fastened with three bolts on each side of the vertical joint centerline. The column centerline and member profiles are explicitly aligned.
