A steel column connects to a concrete footing via anchor bolts embedded into a two-foot square concrete pier. The reinforced concrete pier contains four vertical number six bars and number three ties running full height. The concrete footing provides a minimum three-inch cover over bottom reinforcing bars. A concrete slab on grade abuts the pier at the upper level.
