This assembly connects a steel beam to a steel column using a shear connection plate. The beam web is bolted to the shear tab with five bolts, spaced at three inches on center, with a two-inch edge distance. Four half-inch thick stiffener plates are welded to the column web and flanges on three sides, as indicated by the typical weld symbols. The connection is designed to transfer shear forces from the beam to the column while maintaining structural rigidity through the stiffened column section.
