A beam per plan rests on a three-eighths-inch thick by one-foot, eight-inch bent plate welded to the top of a hollow structural section jamb with a quarter-inch fillet weld. A three-eighths-inch thick by one-foot, three-inch bent plate connects to the vertical leg using four bolts spaced at three inches on center in laminated strand lumber vertical holes. The beam bottom flange is secured with a quarter-inch fillet weld.
