Steel beams are bent up or down per plan to form a continuous framing angle, joined at the apex with a complete joint penetration weld on the flanges and web. A plate matching the web thickness is inserted at the joint and secured with fillet welds on three sides. Stiffener plates matching half the plate thickness with a one-quarter inch minimum size are welded to the beam web.
