An HSS guiderail column is anchored to the edge of a concrete slab adjacent to an elevator shaft wall using a custom bent plate configuration. The structural connection incorporates two three-quarter-inch diameter through bolts centered on long slotted holes for adjustability, with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds typical at the bracket connections. A number five weldable reinforcing bar at twelve inches on center provides class B lap splices with the slab reinforcement around the elevator shaft. The supporting beam and top of steel elevations are sized per plan.
