This assembly connects vertical hollow structural section posts to a horizontal hollow structural section girt using two L3x3x1/4 inch angles at the top and two L6x4x3/8 inch angles at the bottom. The top angles are welded to the HSS post with 3/16 inch fillet welds featuring 1/2 inch and 3 inch returns on both sides. The bottom angles are secured to the HSS post with 3/16 inch fillet welds with 3 inch returns, and to the girt with 1/4 inch fillet welds with 3 inch returns. A 3/4 inch diameter through-bolt passes through the bottom angles and the post, utilizing 3 inch vertically slotted holes in the angles to allow for movement. The bottom angles are extended to overlap the girt by a minimum of 4 inches where the post is eccentric from the girt, as referenced in the project plans.
