A davit socket pedestal is mounted atop a structural steel beam sized per plan, offset at the column connection. A half-inch by four-inch plate, sized to the beam width plus one inch, connects with a quarter-inch fillet weld to the beam flanges. Three-eighths-inch stiffener plates are welded to each side of the column web with quarter-inch fillet welds connecting the beam web to the stiffener plates.
