Metal deck spans perpendicular to the supporting steel beam with a minimum nineteen gauge deck specified for large deck overhangs. A bent plate one-quarter inch thick made of A36 steel forms the edge overhang, providing a maximum nine inch overhang design per the deck supplier. Reinforcing bars size number four are spaced at twelve inches on center in the low flute of the deck. A three-sixteenths inch fillet weld with two-twelve spacing secures the deck at each low flute to the supporting structure.
