Plumbing penetrations pass through steel stud wall framing with associated stud reinforcement. A reinforcing channel matching the stud size and thickness fastens to the stud web using eight number eight screws spaced at six inches on center. Allowable penetration clearances are one inch for three and five-eighths inch studs or one and one-half inch for six-inch studs. The engineer must be contacted if larger penetrations are required.
