This structural connection detail joins a steel beam to a wood post and steel column using a combination of welded and bolted plates. A 3/8 x 5 inch steel plate extends to the steel column, where it connects via a 3/16 inch fillet weld on both sides. A 1/4 x 5 x 6 inch plate attaches to the wood post using four 1/4 inch diameter by 3 inch lag screws. A 1/4 x 8 1/2 x 3 x 0'-4 inch bent plate ties into the cedar slats on each side and connects to the steel beam with two 1/4 inch diameter through bolts, with two additional 1/4 inch diameter through bolts securing it to the cedar slats.
