A composite beam supports a concrete slab over a metal deck oriented perpendicular to the beam span. Three-quarter-inch diameter by five-inch long headed shear studs are welded through the metal deck to the top flange of the steel beam to develop composite action. Slab reinforcement is placed within the concrete topping as specified unless noted otherwise. A minimum four-and-one-half-inch dimension is maintained for the assembly per structural notes.
