An hollow structural section beam frames into an hollow structural section column with a maximum one-half inch clearance. Support is provided by top and bottom L4x4x1/2 angles cut to the column width. The angles are welded to the column with five-sixteenth inch welds on both sides. A quarter-inch fillet weld is applied to three sides at the beam interface, with typical quarter-inch welds top and bottom.
