An HSS column supports a structural connection featuring L6x4x5/8 angles positioned on each side of the hollow structural section with long vertical legs stopped at each side. The horizontal leg is notched around the HSS member per plan. A three-quarter-inch diameter through bolt is centered within a two-inch long vertical slotted hole in the angle leg. A closure plate is detailed per the adjacent sheet, with a complete joint penetration weld specified where the column splice occurs.
