A structural steel frame column is welded to a one-inch thick fifty ksi base plate using a complete joint penetration weld with a two-sided contour weld designation. The plate features four one-and-one-sixteenth-inch diameter holes drilled for three-quarter-inch diameter ASTM F1554 Grade 105 anchor bolts. Half-inch by two-inch square washers are installed beneath the nut locations. Fillet welds of five-sixteenth-inch size are detailed on four sides typically.
